From Hotellet to Markattan, a review of Stockholm by night

I went out partying this weekend and will leave you with a quick review of one must-be and two not-so-famous places to go out in Stockholm: Hotellet, Olsson's and Markattan. These three places have nothing in common. Totally different atmospheres, but a good trip for the cameleonts.

Hotellet (The Hotel) is a place to see and be seen, one of the latest extensions to posh Östermalm, an alternative to the crowded Café Opera - with no entrance fee. The music is reasonable - but not so thrilling- in the club downstairs. Upstairs, the bar offers a more adult population and the music is smoother for talking. 4 out of 5.

Olsson's is a palce to crash in the end of the night, when beer is your only absolute goal of the moment. It is a half-bar, half dancing place, with better music than Hotellet (electronic, house), but the atmosphere is heavily alcoholic. Maybe taking advantage of that, the owners decided to put a pole in the middle of the bar - just like a strip-club pole!! - where many have danced in the spur of the moment and regreted later... from girls showing off to guys having huge tummies - a bit of everything has been filmed in our mobile phones... :-) Imagine a normal place like "Estado Líquido" in Santos, having a pole like this... 2,5 out of 5.

Markattan is a club in Gamla Stan that has been renovated and is going to change name. It is still restarting but I think it will become popular very soon. On saturdays, the music is in the hands of Toni from Italy and Alex from Serbia (excellent vibes guys!). Toni is my friend Ulrika's boyfriend and is planning to start the "apperitivo" trend in Stockholm by organizing some parties at Snapps and Markattan. We talked about organizing a party at Markattan in the end of March or in April. 4 out of 5.
