    Dalarna

Back to the blog's updates after another period of vacation. I will show up more often with some news and curiosities. In the meantime...

...I spent a fantastic , relaxing week in Dalarna ("the valleys") in the middle of Sweden. In the picture, it's the lake right in the middle of the countryside between Sundsvall and Stockholm, the "Siljan".
Dalarna is considered one of the most traditional swedish regions due to the typical costumes, the midsummer celebrations and the Dala horse.
You can check about summer and winter (ski) tourism in this region in the very elegant website: http://www.dalarna.se/template/turism/flash.html

In Mora, I visited the museum of a swedish paintor from the end of the 19th century, Zorn. Quite interesting, since he liked to paint naked women :-) But also landscapes and the portrait of an american president. Check some of his paintings here: http://www.zorn.se/gallery.html

The return to Stockholm and to work was tough - especially because this has been considered the worst summer in 13 years! One sunny day out of 8 has been the average, it's mostly cloudy with a little sun coming once in a while, temperatures rounding +10 to +15, nearly a portuguese winter... If you have any intentions to visit Scandinavia, I suggest next year... (I am not that optimistic Maria...) .

Meanwhile, my friends here are coming back from holidays and plans for activities and concerts are starting...Coldplay, Sigur Rós, etc... A visit to the museums (most of them FREE entry) is mandatory before the summer ends.

I couldn't meet some of you in Lisboa (like Rita from Córdoba) but will start taking care of some postponed e-mail replies... it may take some time though... :-)
    See ya!
