Ana B., I haven't seen Saraband yet. Even though I haven't seen them all, my favourite Ingmar Bergman's movie is "Persona" (1966). Bibi Andersson plays Alma, a nurse who tries to rehabilitate an actress who suddenly stopped talking (Liv Ullmann). During the film their personas merge as one. The erotic power of the film is in the way the two women interact but they are never openly sexual. During the movie, you feel like the perfect woman would be a combination of both. The nurse becomes the "patient" revealing the intimate details of her life while the mute actress becomes in a sense the dominant person, there is an inversion of powers. Basically it shows how powerful the silence can be...
Extremely interesting but I haven't been able to find it in DVD.
