Here in Sweden Easter is celebrated during 4 days (friday and monday are holidays too!)...unfortunately I spent a lot of time in the lab, trying to catch up with my experiments... Real time PCR... cleaning RNA, doing cDNA... the never-ending story...
A lot of people ran away from the city so it felt a bit deserted (just like midsommar).
But there was time for some fun too: saturday, a little drink at "AG" (Allmäna Galleriet), the new place to go in Kungsholmen (one of the Stockholm islands). It looks like a kitchen of a firemen squad (with the vapour tubes in the ceiling and all...), with second-hand leather couches and IKEA tables as its only furniture... One of the DJs is a girl who looks a bit like Catrin (Levi's girlfriend) playing reggae, ska, funk. The people are very mixed (Vasastan vs. Söder) giving it a nice relaxing atmosphere, good for talking. Unfortunately, the music wasn't loud enough to be heard in most of the bar. 2,5 out of 5.
Sunday I met my portuguese friends and PhD colleagues living here and we cooked COZIDO À PORTUGUESA!!! (portuguese stove!). MAGNIFICENT!!! A wonderful idea by Levi. We ate like gorillas, the cow and pork meat, the chouriços (spanish unfortunately...), "entremeada" and the carrots, potatoes and cabbage!!! beautiful... :-) I felt like a portuguese emigrant from France/Switzerland (which in fact, I am...). That night we went to "Tranan", another bar in Odenplan (Vasastan), where you can hear good music and try several sorts of cocktails. 3 out of 5.
Monday I went to a polish dinner, we ate dumplings and "rolled" meat with bacon, followed by the traditional Zubrowka... I met a very nice italian couple, the father of the girl is the teacher of Rui Costa's son in a school in Milano!!!!! Incredible!!! Then I met a girl from Chile who also knew someone I met last year, and she had a portuguese grandfather or something (surname: Fortes). Small world...
Var är min blogg-fan nummer ett?
See you soon,
T.
