    The London Xmas craze

Just came from a long weekend in London!

We were almost engulfed at Harrods and at the Portobello Road market by a wave of crowd trying to get the perfect Xmas gift. I know, I know, wrong time to get in the busiest shopping store of London...
At the Imperial College (courtesy of my dear friend Marta), I was shown cultured stem-cell-derived cardiomyocytes beating separately from each other! Little heart cells beating autonomically, with no stimulation!! Amazing!

The interior design of the Soho Hotel just dazzled our senses: a combination of elegant and functional materials with the "lounge" afterwork feeling. Unnecessary to add, we just looked and imagined the price of a dinner there...
For a good pub-meal I recommend the "White Lion" near Covent Garden, with a good sortiment of Yorkshire puddings, mashed potatoes with sausages.
Another nice pub for a drink is the "Yorkshire Grey" (corner of Theobalds road and Grays Inn road). On the floor upstairs there's a nice atmosphere for a pint and a nice talk with your friends.

Was a bit annoyed with the fact that "Nando's" looks too spanish (and too south african) to be called a portuguese restaurant...The chicken size is far from the lusitan standard but the piri-piri corresponded to the expectations. Also, every Starbucks you go, you queue. No matter where you are...
