Last monday me and Lisa experienced a nostalgic trip at Hovet, Stockholm. Billy "fucking" Idol, as he called himself on stage, played an unforgettable concert of his old hits and new material from the 2005 CD "Devil's playground". Starting the line-up with the song with the same name, most of us, unfamiliar with his latest work, were skeptical about what would come next...but song number 2 was, in your face, "Dancing with myself"!! And then "Flesh for fantasy"...and then "White wedding"...and so on, and so on... impossible to miss the target! So many memories from my teenage years, from "Sweet sixteen" to the Doors cover "L.A. woman" (appropriately changed to "Stockholm" woman...).
Billy explained why he has been away from the stage and new music when he took off his shirt and said, laughing, "I've been working in my body of work", the funniest moment of the evening.
Former Idol's band Generation-X was remembered with "Kiss me deadly".
Guitar solos by Steve Stevens, an old friend of Billy reminded me of the good- old rock concerts where virtuosos show their tricks (Steve Vai, Satriani, among others).
The big moment of the night was "Rebell Yell" at the end of the show, followed by the encore with "Hot in the city" and "Mony Mony".
