    Erykah Badu live at Crans-Montana

Wow! With only 3 albums so far ("Baduizm" and a Live album in 1997, "Mama's Gun" in 2000 and "Worldwide underground" in 2003), Erykah Badu can already be considered one of the most influential R&B, soul, hip-hop artists over the last 10 years. Not at all grammy award material, as Mary J Blige became, perhaps too mainstream with the last "The Breakthrough" album, Erykah sings beautiful songs (she herself is the writer of most of them) and the sound her band produces on stage is crystal. Deep bass keyboards plus reverb-filled organ tunes, mingled with flute and DJ scratching, and Erikah pumping a drum-kit ad libitum, you feel you're back in the 70's but still feel you're listening to a contemporary sound. Furthermore, her presence on stage, energy, passion and hair-style (a giant afro divided in two left-right hemispheres!) make her the coolest person on earth. I have to confess that I didn't know Erykah well enough (maybe led by too much Mary J Blige promotion as the new Aretha Franklin) but now I'm chewing on "Mama's Gun" everyday thanks to Erik.

I think the promoters of the concert inspired themselves on Erikah to do the festival advertisements...don't you think?
